Women! Take Back America!
What in the FUCK is going on with America this week? Are we being Punk’d? Seriously? I feel like the amount of anti-woman stupidity that has been coming out of the Republican party this weeks has been a giant set up.
Because for real, in 2012, these type of anti-woman comments should not be even thought in an election year!
I want to start with Todd Akin. If you haven’t heard about his comments about rape by now, you probably live under a rock. But if you missed it, let me replay it for you…
But here is the kicker right in the pants ladies! Vice President nominee Paul Ryan sponsored anti-choice bills with this man, Todd Akin. They are anti-choice BFF’s. Rich huh? Considering Mitt Romney not only ran as a Pro-Choice Governor for years, but also was backed by Planned Parenthood, as well as NARAL. Rich… really rich!
But it gets worse. This week has just been a train wreck for women. Chock full of misogyny from all over. Well, maybe not all over, but certainly from the right.
It doesn’t stop at rape. It is going so much deeper. To the point where America is actually starting to see the start of an epidemic which once took the lives of many desperate American women. Back alley abortions.
Now before I get involved in this from my personal opinion I feel the need to state my stance on abortion once more before being flamed or attacked.
I am pro-choice. I have never had an abortion. Abortion is not the right choice for ME. I support reproductive freedom for ALL women. I feel as though women NEED the right to make their own medical choices. PERIOD.
Now, back to my point.
In the past couple years we have seen a significant increase in legislation to limit women’s health choices. Specifically in the reproductive health sector. Birth control, abortion, parental notification, waiting periods. Laws that limit the choices women have. In turn this creates a new generation of desperate women who will, in turn make dangerous choices because our government… who is supposed to protect us and look out for the best interest of their citizens… has taken a step back into the dark ages by limiting their options.

This is what women in America are being faced with! We are becoming public enemy number one for those lawmakers who think their morals should determine the laws of this country.
The only way women can take a stand against these misogynistic assholes is to show them women vote! Take a stand in your local area and have your voice heard by your vote!
We need to show these lawmakers we will NOT go back in time to give up our birth control, abortion options, or even our right to vote. Because I am sure if many of them had their own way, that would be on the chopping block too. Send us back to the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant before we ruin the country right?

I agree and have written a lot this week on this as well. This is typical blaming the victim and after they have been physically raped, now raping their own truth and indepenance. To the point that they propose giving the rapists rights over foRcing the woman to bring the pregncy to term? This is way beyond the pale.
I agree with you but would try to use less angry and/or violent language but I do understand where you are coming from and the frustration we feel seeing the country trying to revert to the ’50s when abortions were illegal, in back alley “clinics” and mothers died from not having a choice. Thanks for your voice and heart!
