The Co-Sleeping Trap

With our oldest son, we co-slept with him inside our bed. The second we learned our lesson and had him in a co-sleeper then he went right into his own bed. It worked fantastically.
But the oldest, well having him co-sleep inside our bed backfired. Badly. To the point where he took over my husband’s side of the bed and my husband was forced out onto the couch. We all just couldn’t fit in one bed.
Finally when I was pregnant with Addison we got him into his own bed in anticipation of a new baby in the house, but I knew right then and there — no matter how much I wanted Addie sleeping WITH us… it would not be happening because I was not getting stuck in the above situation again.
We used a co-sleeper and eventually eased her into her crib, and that is where we stand. I still bring her into our bed to nurse nightly when she wakes up, and most of the time she will stay once Daddy is up for work and his spot is free. But if it means my husband, or my child in bed — sorry kiddo’s but I am picking Daddy this time around!
When I saw these diagrams from howtobedad.com I couldn’t help but laugh till I nearly pissed my pants, because they couldn’t be more spot on. And my husband totally agreed!
I think our co-sleeping situation was the one labeled as “The doghouse”
Which one is your favorite… or should I say… least favorite?
Be sure you have tissues because you will probably laugh till you cry!

I think my husband and I are very lucky. We have a king size bed so everyone typically has their own space. Although our little one has been creeping closer into my space lately but it still works. We got a king bed because we knew our kids would be sleeping in bed with us and we wanted enough room for everyone.
The H is the most common around these parts. We try very hard to get the 3 year old to sleep on our floor if she must share our room.
