valentinesday

Valentines Day is right around the corner!

Many of our toddlers are just starting to understand the holiday through pre-school classes, or just simply our household decorations. Others, like my oldest son are veterans at this point and are ready for the red hearts, candy and everything else that comes along with it.

Especially those little paper Valentines for school!

Should Pre-School Be Free?

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

I sometimes write for a local publication about issues parents are facing in Connecticut. Recently free pre-school programs became the topic of interest.

And quickly turned into a hot button issue full of mudslinging. Some parents accusing supporters of the idea of being welfare leaches, and well… you can get where the debate went!

Alas, most parents support the idea across the board-which is a total relief as a parent myself. I would never want a child to go without because someone may have a personal hangup about something. Would you?

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

For me, 2012 is the year of organization.

Organization for the kids, my own life, for work… organization for my house. Everything needs to get organized before I lose the one ounce of sanity I have left.

So I knew I needed to set some goals, and priorities when it comes to my kids as well. They are the number one priority in our house!

Did you make any parenting resolutions for the year? Come over to Toddler Times and share them!

7 Reasons Parents Are Glad Christmas is OVER!

Monday, December 26th, 2011

I survived Christmas… by the skin of my teeth and with a horrible cold which has made my head feel like it is on the verge of exploding.

But I survived, the kids are happy, and this was really the first year our 2 year old understood what was going on, so having two out of three kids know how truly magical everything was… well it was just priceless.

But now I am starting to realize why big events such as Christmas are only once a year. Because honestly, if they were more often, we would not be celebrating.

Christmas Parenting FAIL!

Monday, December 26th, 2011

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there… But Mommy… she dropped the ball big time this Christmas. And nearly ruined the entire day.

With the big job of playing Santa Claus, we all have a lot on our mind right?  Yup! Well between that, my husband working on Christmas Eve, and the number of doctors appointments our youngest has had in the last two weeks, I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

And I forgot something… BIG!

8 Crafts to Celebrate the Winter Solstice

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Do you celebrate the winter solstice? Or as most of people know it… simply the first day of winter. We do!

I remember when I was a teen we would actually have a small fire outside in our fire pit, roast marshmallows and say goodbye to the mild weather and prepare for a long, and cold New England winter. Oh the joys of Connecticut!

Enter To Win an InnoTab

Enter to Win!

It seems like tablets for children are all the rage this holiday season, and as a huge fan of Vtech myself I was certainly interested in seeing that the Vtech InnoTab was all about. I think my kids were as well since it was on their Christmas list!

Just like most American kids!

Every store I walk into, they are sold out… and understandably so!

Will My Daughter’s Helmet Teach My Toddler Acceptance?

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

That is Johnny and his mom Stevee. Stevee and I were pregnant together at the same time, and my daughter Addison is just slightly older than he is…

This week we found out our youngest child Addison who is 7 months old needs to wear a corrective helmet for three months for a condition called plagiocephaly. Basically meaning she has a flat spot on her head that needs to be corrected.

After having a huge mommy meltdown I started to desperately search for the positives, and the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to having my poor little girl saddled with some serious head gear for a couple months.

Toddler Lunch: Would You Like Pot With That?

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011
Just when I thought I have heard everything come out of my own damn state… another idiot goes and surprises me. This time it is a man from a small town called Killingworth.
A 33 year old father by the name of John Sulzbach is charged with risk of injury to a minor, and possession of a controlled substance. What was that substance?  Marijuana.
But what in the hell does this have to do with toddlers?

Saying Goodbye to Toddlerhood

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011
Sunday marks my first born son’s fourth birthday. He will be leaving the official world of toddlerhood and heading into I guess what we can call childhood.
It seems like yesterday he was born, and how he is a pre-schooler who has the vocabulary of a ten year old and can sass me more than any normal child.
We are celebrating with a Build-A-Bear birthday party because his request for all his friends to come to his party really exceeded the maximum capacity of our house.
