Summer Reading Challenge Week 2 Picks!

Saturday, July 7th, 2012

With the 4th of July Holiday I pushed back my Summer Reading Challenge update a little bit, but I am excited to put out a couple new recommendations and of course chat about some books I took on since my last update.

My last two recommendations included Slammed and Beautiful Disaster. Since then I finished the follow up to Slammed called Point of Retreat. The two book series is great, I would suggest it for those who are into romance novels. It is unconventional compared to most.

The two books I am bringing to the table this update are… (more…)

Summer Reading Challenge: Week 1 Picks!

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

I was so excited when there was so much interest in the Summer Reading Challenge for moms! I put a lot of thought and work into it this week and actually made an awesome reading list on GoodReads.com for the summer to help me stay on track in between recommendations and suggestions from friends and family.

Since finishing up The Help last week, which was completely amazing in my opinion. I picked up a couple more books. Some shorter stories that are easy reads, and two long great reads. I wanted to share my two biggest recommendations since last time I updated my little pet project!

First I wanted to talk about Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. A friend (Beth) recommended it to me last week when we were both lamenting over the end of 50 Shades of Grey. I think once you read that you yearn for more whether or not you actually enjoyed the book. (more…)

Summer Reading Challenge for Moms!

Sunday, June 10th, 2012

First it started with reading Heaven is Here by Stephanie Nielson, and then I got sucked into the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. After I finished those I started reading them a second time because it was like going through a bad break up.

Then a friend of mine gave me some book recommendations and another gave me a stack of New York Times best sellers that she was going to donate.

Everyone is aiding my new found love for reading. I just wish it had hit me years ago – maybe when I was still in school? Damn back then it was like pulling teeth, but maybe it was just the choice of books in high school? (more…)

Summer Reading for Moms!

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

Since my kiddos are in school this year we have taken on the summer reading challenge in our house. It is something I remember bitching about as a kid because I would rather be swimming all day long in the summer, not sitting down with a book that I would have to record on a sheet and report back to school with in September.

But with the new summer reading love in our house it has brought my own inner book worm out and I am on a mission myself, alongside my own children this summer to get my reading on!

I never took the time to see how many awesome books there are you can read!

Check out the awesome list here… and be sure to comment with books you would love to add!
