I have always had a love-hate relationship with my cloth diapers. Mainly love though, because I am not always trying to fight a smell or stain. But when I get a whiff of ammonia or the dryer has a funky smell after I am done drying a load of cloth diapers… something is up, and has to be done.
I had stripped my diapers a couple times with the simple hot water method. Several friends of mine had recommended running my diapers through a hot water cycle with no soap, once or twice. Which helped for a period of time. Then the funk came back. Almost worst than the first time.
A while back, someone had recommended RLR, but I had absolutely no idea where to find it. Finally last month when I was placing an order on Kelly’s Closet, I saw packets of RLR for sale, so I loaded up on a couple. (more…)

It is that time of the year again! Looking for Easter Dresses in our household. I think this whole process has been one of the highlights of having a daughter. Of course I always loved the pastel color dress up shirts for the boys, but nothing tops frilly, poofy dresses. NOTHING!
So I started thinking, what are some of the most adorable cloth diapers that would go perfectly with these beautiful spring Easter dresses? (more…)

I have a long history with cloth diapers, which started a couple months after my oldest son was born in 2007. I really was interested in learning more, so I headed half way across my state to the only brick & mortar store that sold them. In a moment of insanity I stocked up, or at least I thought I was.
I purchased 6 BumGenius diapers, thinking that would be more than enough. Ha! Insert big laugh here! I didn’t know about all the online resources, and figured it couldn’t be very hard to just diaper a baby. I mean in reality, I had already been doing it for months and just having different material on his ass couldn’t be that hard.
Clearly, I was wrong, and within a week I sold the diapers. I was intimidated and uneducated, oh… and really naive. (more…)

Cloth diapering may not be the popular choice, but if you ask anyone who has really taken the time to check out modern day cloth diapers, and truly make an educated decision between the two diapering option… there is one major consensus.
Cloth diapers rock. Well, that and cloth diapers simply the cooler choice all around. I decided to put together a short list of the reasons *I* think that cloth diapers are just so much cooler.
Mind you, I am not being a hater because I have used disposable diapers in the past, and I would lie if I said there were no pull-ups in my house right now for our overnight ventures.
But when it comes down to diapering… cloth is totally where it is at. (more…)

Cloth diapering… Every time I say the words to most of my friends, I get a dead stare and the plethora of questions about how hard it must be. I mean, why even use them when technology has come so far and we have access to cheap disposable diapers.
Money, technology, environmental, whatever choices bring cloth diapering onto the table… it is still a very much valid choice for families and guess what? It is easy.
Just as easy as taking off a diaper and throwing it into a trash can. I can promise you that. (more…)

A little while back I had to strip all of my diapers because of an ammonia issue we had. I had never had any experience with this, or diaper stripping before. But in the days, and weeks surrounding my stripping escapade I learned a lot.
I learned that apparently… there are a lot of cloth diapering parents out there who will utilize their dish washer to actually strip diapers. Like, when I say a lot… I mean like… I googled “cloth diaper stripping” and the majority of blog posts that came up in this search included a dish washer. Thankfully I had a couple awesome cloth diapering friends who are far more pro at it than I probably ever will be.
After quizzing them I just did a simple hot water strip in my washing machine. You know… the place that is actually meant to wash diapers, clothes, fabrics… (more…)

It is a new week, and of course a new giveaway here for Project Convert 2 Cloth! I do realize I am a little behind on everything else but the giveaways because I had a lot of last minute guest blog entries or people who committed to writing guest blogs simply didn’t follow through.
I am scrambling to get the information wrapped up so I can get it rolling here on the blog. I hope to have everything finished after the holiday this week. Summer vacation has been proving to be a little more difficult than summers of years before.
Head over to the giveaway so you can enter to win a rad prize from FuzziBunz!

Meet Ilana and Amy. From the picture they look like two friends who just really like each other right?
While I know they love each other, they are also business partners in one of the best Canadian Mother-Owned businesses I have ever come across.
Nearly two years ago when I started my journey into cloth diapering Ilana and Amy helped me get started. Applecheeks were the first and only diapers I used for a long time, until I started to adventure outside the box. (more…)

Blow outs… It is something we have all heard in the world of parenting and when you would typically think about a tire blowing, but once you are a parent you know this kind of blow out involves poop — a lot of it!
With my older children I always just thought it was part of diapering a baby or toddler. And it wasn’t until I switched over to cloth diapers that I realized the world of difference the type of diaper actually makes when it comes to those nasty blow outs.
The difference? With cloth diapers we have never had a blow out that landed in poop inside an outfit and all over the place. I find that the cloth diapers themselves keep the poop contained to the inside of the diaper, where as the disposable diapers just let it flow right up the back.
You can see the difference in a cloth Vs. disposable waistband. (more…)

Appletini is here!
The new AppleCheeks Cloth Diaper is here, and I am in love! I have a fondness for bright colored diapers, and I told Ilana from Applecheeks a while back about my desire for a bright green colored diaper… and now it is here!
I have always had a special place in my cloth diapering heart since AppleCheeks sponsored my switch from disposable diapers, to cloth diapers in the summer of 2010. They are like family to me… and while I have never met Katie (Miss Katies Pickles) I feel like they are all family to me. I was also over the moon to meet Ilana in October of 2010 in New York City! Before I had kids of my own I always thought diapers just went into the trash. Poop, pee… whatever ended up in them… off to the landfill they went!
Yup, I realized it was a lot of garbage… and I never really took the time to actually read the packaging the diapers came in. Do any of us?
I mean, once we know how to actually change a diaper why bother? It is not like there are step by step directions teaching us how to not end up with a swipe of shit on our pinky finger right? (more…)
