I have always had a love-hate relationship with my cloth diapers. Mainly love though, because I am not always trying to fight a smell or stain. But when I get a whiff of ammonia or the dryer has a funky smell after I am done drying a load of cloth diapers… something is up, and has to be done.
I had stripped my diapers a couple times with the simple hot water method. Several friends of mine had recommended running my diapers through a hot water cycle with no soap, once or twice. Which helped for a period of time. Then the funk came back. Almost worst than the first time.
A while back, someone had recommended RLR, but I had absolutely no idea where to find it. Finally last month when I was placing an order on Kelly’s Closet, I saw packets of RLR for sale, so I loaded up on a couple. (more…)

It is that time of the year again! Looking for Easter Dresses in our household. I think this whole process has been one of the highlights of having a daughter. Of course I always loved the pastel color dress up shirts for the boys, but nothing tops frilly, poofy dresses. NOTHING!
So I started thinking, what are some of the most adorable cloth diapers that would go perfectly with these beautiful spring Easter dresses? (more…)

I have a long history with cloth diapers, which started a couple months after my oldest son was born in 2007. I really was interested in learning more, so I headed half way across my state to the only brick & mortar store that sold them. In a moment of insanity I stocked up, or at least I thought I was.
I purchased 6 BumGenius diapers, thinking that would be more than enough. Ha! Insert big laugh here! I didn’t know about all the online resources, and figured it couldn’t be very hard to just diaper a baby. I mean in reality, I had already been doing it for months and just having different material on his ass couldn’t be that hard.
Clearly, I was wrong, and within a week I sold the diapers. I was intimidated and uneducated, oh… and really naive. (more…)

Cloth diapering may not be the popular choice, but if you ask anyone who has really taken the time to check out modern day cloth diapers, and truly make an educated decision between the two diapering option… there is one major consensus.
Cloth diapers rock. Well, that and cloth diapers simply the cooler choice all around. I decided to put together a short list of the reasons *I* think that cloth diapers are just so much cooler.
Mind you, I am not being a hater because I have used disposable diapers in the past, and I would lie if I said there were no pull-ups in my house right now for our overnight ventures.
But when it comes down to diapering… cloth is totally where it is at. (more…)

After so many months of waiting and planning, the moment is finally upon us for Project Convert 2 Cloth! I couldn’t be more excited because I am really hoping to help many families make the switch to cloth diapers, or even convince new parents to start off with cloth diapers and skip disposable altogether.
In the past I have written tons of different post’s about cloth diapering and I wanted to kick off the project linking to some of the different informative pieces.

I have been putting so much work into the Project Convert 2 Cloth and I have finally decided when it is going to take place and I have almost all the vendors on board!
The first day of Summer will be the launch and it is going to run for the entire summer. A lot of us bloggers totally get burnt out over the summer with vacations, and heck when it is nice out who wants to be stuck inside the house? I know I don’t!
Mark your calendars!
June 20th, 2012 will be the kick off! (more…)

I’ve been cloth diapering exclusively for a couple months now, and by exclusively I mean all the time even though I started cloth diapering in the summer of 2010. I decided to jump in and participating in The Eco Chic’s Real Diaper Week Blog Hop this year because in the past couple months I have not only blogged more about cloth diapers but I found a lot of new readers here who are also cloth diapering moms!
While I won’t be participating in every prompt for the week because I am still so new, I am going to add in my two cents where I can – starting with today. The prompt for April 16th is Cloth Diapering 101 or simple outreach. (more…)

I have lived without a diaper sprayer for 18 months which in cloth diapering terms is a freaking eternity… With Addison getting older and eating a diet with far more solid foods, and my toddler still burdening me with gross diapers I dreaded cleaning… I knew it was time to invest in one.
I put in an order on Kelly’s Closet last week for the spayer and of course a couple odds and ends I needed — Some Rockin’ Green, a bigger wet bag – all that fun stuff. The best part was the kick ass coupon code: CLOVER which scored me a free FuzziBunz Elite as my mystery one size diaper for spending $69+!
It was a win all around! (more…)

Everyone has been hearing me talk about this whole Project Convert 2 Cloth thing on facebook and twitter and while I am still in the planning mode I wanted to clue you guys in before you are totally annoyed with the vague project!
I hate secrets too…
A lot of the readers here are cloth diapering moms, who are pretty well seasoned when it comes to cloth diapering. Well I also have a lot of readers who never have tried cloth diapers and either are just not interested or scared to try. I know they can totally be overwhelming and scary!
It looks as though May may be the month for this project to actually take place. I was shooting for April, but alas – I am still working on too many details to really have it go off without a hitch and be perfect like I want it to be. I guess I am really starting to become a perfectionist. (more…)

Blow outs… It is something we have all heard in the world of parenting and when you would typically think about a tire blowing, but once you are a parent you know this kind of blow out involves poop — a lot of it!
With my older children I always just thought it was part of diapering a baby or toddler. And it wasn’t until I switched over to cloth diapers that I realized the world of difference the type of diaper actually makes when it comes to those nasty blow outs.
The difference? With cloth diapers we have never had a blow out that landed in poop inside an outfit and all over the place. I find that the cloth diapers themselves keep the poop contained to the inside of the diaper, where as the disposable diapers just let it flow right up the back.
You can see the difference in a cloth Vs. disposable waistband. (more…)

People never cease to amaze me with idiotic comments on cloth diapering, but recently I saw something -somewhere with step-by-step instructions on how to change a cloth diaper without getting poop on your hands. Yes, I am serious.
I had to stop for a minute and think if there was much validity to the posting itself before I compared changing a disposable diaper and the difficulty of avoiding poop to actually changing a cloth diaper. (more…)

Cloth diaper washing methods can vary just as much as the number of different diapering brands that are available. How do you know exactly which advice to believe and which advice will damage your diapers? Below are 5 practical tips that will help ease your laundry anxiety and save your stash.
1. Pre-rinse to prevent stink and stains! Take an extra minute when you are changing your babies diaper and pre-rinse your diapers before placing them in your diaper pail or wet bag. This can be done in a sink, tub, toilet, or even with a hose outside. Pre-rinsing your diapers will prevent the urine from converting to ammonia (causing that pungent stink you smell on laundry day) and will also help prevent stains from setting. (more…)

Cloth diapers… we are back in cloth diapers 100% of the time in our house, and while it is a good feeding, it is getting a little crazy and overwhelming, but isn’t that typical with two kids in diapers at once?
So this is where I channel the opinions of all of my readers that cloth diaper their children, and actively have more than one in diapers right now!
Do you separate your kids cloth diapers… as in… do you have separate stashes designated for each child.
