If I had a dime for every vomit story I had with my three children, chances are I would be a lot more well off than I am now. Between the grocery store, our local diner, multiple episodes in the car, and of course just in the comfort of our living room… there is a story for everyone!
But the other night when we had yet again, a vomit emergency in our house I realized something. No matter who tries to help your child when they are sick, whether it is a father, stranger, or even their grandfather. They only want one person.
Mommy.

I think by now we already know where I stand on the gun control debate. I have been outspoken about it, especially in the aftermath of the local Sandy Hook school shooting where I lost a long time friend.
But beyond the recent events though, I have always stood by a strict no toy guns policy in my house. I haven’t bought any, and I have gone out of my way to ask family members not to purchase any either.
No NERF guns.
No cap guns.
No water guns.

So after writing up my blog post the other day about the lifesaver known as my blog notebook, I took a trip to Target.
You see that adorable notebook with the cupcakes and ice cream cones? I found a ton of those on clearance and I grabbed a couple of them. I couldn’t pass the deal by even though my current blog notebook works just fine.
I was laying in bed thinking of ways to give back to my readers, and after giving away a couple random coupons and gift cards… I thought why not take one of these notebooks and put a cool, but small giveaway out there for all of the bloggers. (more…)

If I had a dime for every time someone asked me how I stay organized with my blog, I would be rich.Seriously, like a gazillionaire!
The method to my madness?
A notebook. A simple, one subject – Martha Stewart Home Office by Avery notebook. Its green, has some pretty swirls on the cover. Just something I found extremely adorable in Staples one time. And no, this is not a sponsored post or plug – although I was really happy to meet the Avery home office people at BlogHer since I already use the Martha Stewart line.
The notebook, with the Wunderlist app on my desktop, and phone. Things that have a priority go right onto Wunderlist with a “must complete by” date. All my ideas go right into my notebook. (more…)

If you are part of the inter-webz or actively participate in a world called Twitter, you know that an ass-ton of women (and a hand full of men) are heading to a blog conference called BlogHer in New York City this week. Something I always look forward to, and will be participating in once again this year.
My original plan was to head in for a long ass day kicking off at 5am, and ending some twenty hours later. Until a friend of mine was in need of some help.
As my childcare allowed me, I decided to head in a day earlier. Because I just absolutely love my Marie… she was my roommate at the 2010 conference and we had a blast together.
I am sure she will hate me for posting this picture, but we had so much fun! (more…)

From Time magazine to Bristol damn Palin… this week has been full of WTF moments. So many in the mainstream news that I almost can’t even believe I am actually writing this post.
First I am just going to say I am upset and ashamed for Time Magazine on their need to perpetuate more mom wars in order to actually sell magazines. I get that they have to do something to stay afloat these days since most people are getting their news online – but stop throwing mothers under the bus.
It is bad enough that every day women are doing it on these nasty internet forums, but we don’t need it on the front page of the news. Are you Mom Enough? I am pretty sure when you cook a baby, parent it, give birth to it, or whatever you do to raise your kids… that is enough. (more…)

In my quest for my 2012 BlogHer sponsor I reached out to one of my favorite companies ever. GelaSkins! And while sponsorship this year wasn’t an option I got the opportunity to review a new custom made case for my iPhone and a skin for my Macbook.
I didn’t want to just make something that was cute or get a skin that I thought would be visually appealing when I am using my computer or phone out in public — I wanted to be able to include free advertising when I am sitting in Starbucks or at Panera Bread. (more…)

I met Emily from BabyDickey.com when I first started becoming really active on twitter for my blog. It was also around the time that she was due with her first child, and I remember in the days following Christmas that year she delivered her son. It is hard to believe it was two years ago already! Happy Birthday Ryan!
Here we are two years later, and she is pregnant with her second little one, and planning a HBAC (Home Birth after a Cesarean) , something which makes me incredibly excited for her, because of my deep desire for a VBAC with my second, and third child. I will be cheering her on every step of the way! (more…)

Do you think setting goals for your blog is important?
Some don’t but I think it is key to having a successful website! But you also need to remember that goals are not always set in stone either. Remember they are your goals!
As time goes on your general goal may change, or morph to the path you have chosen to accomplish what you originally envisioned. That is ok!
If you just blog for a hobby, or for fun, this necessarily may not be the post for you, but sometimes that is how a really great website gets started. I know that almost four years ago when I started writing my blog, I never in a million years dreamed it would actually become a job. The best kind of careers are something we start off as a hobby because we love doing it right? (more…)

Just incase you didn’t hear already today… Disney purchased Babble.com for an estimated $40-$45 million dollars today.. Um.. HOLY SHIT!
Oh and if you haven’t figured it out yet I work for Babble.com.
My day started out with the rumors, and the only solid report of the acquisition removed by the publisher till Babble actually announced it, which had my blood pressure through the roof with the thought that I was going to lose my job. (more…)
