My Top Posts from 2012

Monday, December 31st, 2012

20122013 is right around the corner, and at the end of the year, I like to take a moment to look back over all of what I wrote for the year. Good posts, and bad. Things I have changed my mind about… and of course the posts that really fired people up.

It took me almost an entire day to go along through all these posts, whether they were right here on my site, or my favorites I authored this year on Babble.com.

I hope you enjoy them all just as much as I did! (more…)

My Must Read Romance Novels of 2012

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

During 2012 I have grown to love romance novels. It all started when I finally picked up Fifty Shades of Grey earlier in the year to see what all the rave was about. I didn’t stop there!

Through sharing books with friends (and my mom) and of course discovering some on my own, I put together a list of my favorite from the year. Whether they were published in 2012, or I just got around to reading them this year… This is my 2012 list to end the year. (more…)

Importance & Working Together

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

It is over. No more commercials. No more arguing. No more debates.

But what is not over for America is the struggle. Tonight I watched a lot on twitter, and Facebook. But one thing that rang clear in every post was the amount of struggle nearly every American family is feeling. Whether you live in Connecticut (like me) or in Alabama.

Jobs, healthcare, food, basic necessities. We are all behind.

But I also learned a couple lessons today, one involving my four year old who hit the polls with me, chocolate covered face and all. We owe it to our children to do one thing.

WORK TOGETHER. (more…)

Maternal Mortality is a Real Issue in America

It is 2012. I am sure we all know that just by looking at a calendar though, right?

We all expected flying cars and time travel. Unfortunately we can’t even advance medical technology enough to ensure all women make it through pregnancy and childbirth safely in our country. Which is an incredibly sad problem facing mothers all over America.

If we are being honest, this election season has brought the worst out in many candidates across the country. Especially when it comes to the hot button topic of abortion. But the shit really started to get deep when a Republican from IL suggested recently, that because of the great advances we have made in medical science, there is no longer a need for abortion due to the life of the mother. Women! Take Back America!

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

What in the FUCK is going on with America this week? Are we being Punk’d? Seriously? I feel like the amount of anti-woman stupidity that has been coming out of the Republican party this weeks has been a giant set up.

Because for real, in 2012, these type of anti-woman comments should not be even thought in an election year!

I want to start with Todd Akin. If you haven’t heard about his comments about rape by now, you probably live under a rock. But if you missed it, let me replay it for you… (more…)

Tips for BlogHer Newbies!

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

I am going to BlogHer this year. I can’t pass it up since it is in New York City. The last time I attended the conference, it was amazing. There is just so much a blogger can learn. Plus who doesn’t want to meet all the bloggers you have made connections with over the years?

Well and meet new bloggers. At BlogHer 2010 when I became the Wine Fairy I also met several awesome bloggers I talk to almost daily still. It is like a sisterhood. A great sisterhood. And once a year we all get together to learn and party.

With an emphasis on party. It is always a good time.

Now when I went to BlogHer 2010 it was like baptism by fire. I had no idea what I was getting into. I hopped onto the train with my Dad, did a day in the city with him and my friend Julie and then I was on my own. (more…)

Project Get Organized!

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

One of my biggest projects for 2012 is to get my entire house organized. It doesn’t sound like a big accomplishment, but it really is.

My husband and I have very limited space, and storage in our home, and it is becoming crowded. Between three kids, and stuff we have been hanging onto for a long time… tons needs to go.

We are working on purging things we don’t need anymore, and at the same time I am abusing Ikea for new storage options. (more…)

New Years Resolutions

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

2011 was a year full of ups and downs.

Our daughter was born, and I lost my sister.
My husband quit his first job ever to move to a company he can grow with, and has already become a supervisor.
My oldest son started school, and is thriving.
My career has started to take off…

But honestly… I am just ready for the year to be over. It has just been a crappy year masked by mini accomplishments. Obviously except for our daughter. (more…)
