Summer Reading Challenge Week 2 Picks!
With the 4th of July Holiday I pushed back my Summer Reading Challenge update a little bit, but I am excited to put out a couple new recommendations and of course chat about some books I took on since my last update.
My last two recommendations included Slammed and Beautiful Disaster. Since then I finished the follow up to Slammed called Point of Retreat. The two book series is great, I would suggest it for those who are into romance novels. It is unconventional compared to most.
The two books I am bringing to the table this update are…
Rescue Me and Love Unscripted.
Both are in the romance category but aren’t chock full of sex like Fifty Shades of Grey. Actually, I picked up Rescue me in paperback at Target while I was shopping one afternoon. It was on sale and looked different, and it is great to actually pick up a real book once and a while. Of course it is something I miss since reading on my iPad, and through the Kindle App.
She heads back to the town of Lovett, Texas which she escaped at the age of 18 to be a brides maid in her little cousin’s wedding. Her four day trip turns into and extended leave from reality when her father gets seriously injured and she stays behind to take care of him.
In the mean time she meets a tall, dark and handsome ex-Navy Seal and strikes up a friends with benefits relationship to help pass the time while she is in town, and try and keep her mind off of everything she is forced to deal with just by being back in her small town.
Does she stay in Lovett? Does she return back to her normal life as a real estate agent? You will have to read to find out, but I have to say I really did enjoy the ending of the book. It was a totally down to earth, and believable love story.
Then comes Love Unscripted.
It is a long book, it took me almost an entire week to read, but it was worth it. And totally one of those unrealistic-this would never happen in real life kind of books.
Alone in life, after both of her parents passed away Tayrn was running her own little Pub and turning down every guy that walked into her life, until a celebrity running from a flock of crazed fans ran into her bar one day and a friendship was born.
But romance with Hollywood’s biggest single heart throb wasn’t going to be easy.
The long novel is the first in a series and while it is really long winded, and sometimes it got kind of boring, it was a nice change from reality which may are looking for when they pick up a book.
