Sometimes Motherhood is Goldfish and Chaos

A couple weeks ago, on a Thursday night (which is Fire Department Drill night) I was on my own to get the kids off to bed. Not that big of a challenge. Typically they are nice and tired once 8pm rolls around and getting them into their PJ’s and squared away in bed isn’t an issue.

Apparently this night they weren’t going to make it easy for me. Totally fine, not the worst I have had. LOL

While getting everyone ready I put up the baby gate in the doorway of Addison’s room to keep them all cornered and ran to go get diapers and PJ’s out of the clean laundry.

Camden can get over the gate with ease, nothing new. I just wasn’t prepared for what would happen next.

I came back into the room to get everyone ready, and it looked like a BOMB went off. I expected toys to be all over the place since they were playing, but apparently the boys decided to give their baby sister an entire bag of goldfish crackers which WERE on the living room coffee table.

Not knowing any better Addie decided to really enjoy the goldfish by pouring them all over the floor and picking the ones she wanted to eat one-by-one. Surprising to me, because after the amount the kids ate for dinner, I wouldn’t expect them to be able to fit in another bite. Especially her!

I guess the moral of my story today is… Motherhood is messy. Even the best laid plans sometimes go to shit with the help of the midgets we are raising.

This night, I had a good laugh. Actually a really good laugh. Like, I laughed till I cried. Took a picture and then of course pulled out the little hand held vacuum to clean the mess up.
