Soda Stream Review

This year at BlogHer, I had the opportunity to chat with some of the great rep’s from Soda Stream and learn more about the system. I had seen it in the store before but never put much thought into making my own soda. I am of course a self proclaimed Pepsi junkie, so the thought of another kind of cola in my life almost made me feel like I was a cheater.

So while at their booth at BlogHer, Steve (the rep I chatted it up with) made me a cola, or their version of my favorite. In that moment I was kind of sold on the Soda Stream because I couldn’t tell the difference between the cola he made me and my typical favorite.

Once I got home and settled back into our home routine, I had the opportunity to review and giveaway a Soda Stream myself, and let me tell you… I am SOLD!  And you should be too, for a number of reasons which I will get into!

My biggest love about the Soda Stream is the sugar content on their soda when compared to other brands, and most soda’s in general. Example?

Can you see the difference? The Soda Stream mix is on the left, and the right is a typical soda I would drink. There is a noticeable difference in the content. Not only that, but Soda Stream mixes use natural cane sugar for their Soda as opposed to the typical high fructose corn syrup. Of course not saying either are good or bad, but in moderation of course. Which would you rather consume though?

Then there is the ease of the machine as a whole. You take the liquid container which screws right into the soda stream machine, fill it up with water to the fill line (we used filtered water), screw it back onto the machine and press down the button at the top. You can easily add as much carbonation as you would like. Don’t like very fizzy soda? Only press it once! Like really fizzy soda? Press it three times! Custom made soda for your own taste buds!

All total it took me about 90 seconds to make a bottle of soda that is good for 2-3 cups!

But it doesn’t stop there! Not only do they have soda, but you can make sparkling water, because they have these awesome flavors for water! These were probably one of my favorites because during the day I try to only drink water, flavored water, juice or Iced Tea. Not because I don’t like soda, but because I believe that moderation is key for everything. Mainly I will have a soda with dinner. (Or with breakfast if I am out of coffee, but that is a whole different topic for another day!)

Personal favorite? The Orange flavored water!

A big thanks to the people at Soda Stream for providing me with the machine and Soda Mixes free of charge for review! I was not compensated for this review.

  1. I have been wanting to try one of these but was afraid it wouldn’t taste as good as ‘real’ Pepsi. Now you have me even more curious about Soda Stream.
